Celebrating 35 Years of Service in Ventura County
Take Action!
CRI is deeply grateful for the dedication of our volunteers—your time, energy, and creativity make our work possible. There are many ways to contribute, depending on your interests and availability:

In the Office
Support our mediation team behind the scenes by helping with case intake, case management, and setting up mediations. No prior experience required—just a willingness to learn.

Fundraising & Events
Host a fundraiser, sponsor an event, or help us organize community activities that sustain our programs.

Small Claims Court*
Volunteer as a mediator and see the process in action. Depending on caseload and experience, mediators may be assigned to co-mediate cases, gaining hands-on practice. Small Claims Court Mediators must be DRPA certified.

On a Comittee
Lend your skills by serving on one of CRI’s committees, such as fundraising, outreach, scholarships, or the growth and gratitude committee.

Community Ambassador
Share CRI’s mission with your networks, connect us with potential partners, and help spread the word about our services.
*To ensure alignment with our program standards and court procedures, mediators who were not originally certified through Conflict Resolution Institute (CRI) are required to:
-
Pay a $100 administrative onboarding fee, which supports volunteer coordination, court placement, and documentation processing.
-
Attend the final day of CRI’s 31-hour Mediation Training, where we cover our Small Claims Court procedures, forms, and case management expectations.
This process helps us maintain consistency, quality, and compliance with the Ventura County Superior Court’s mediation program requirements. We appreciate your understanding and your commitment to community-based mediation.
Internships
Looking for hands-on experience that makes a real impact? CRI offers internships where students can:
-
Earn academic credit (through your own academic institution)
-
Become a Certified Mediator
-
Build conflict resolution and communication skills
-
Work alongside trained mediators
-
Support community programs and outreach
Our interns don’t just observe—they become part of the team, helping with case intake, mediation prep, events, and special projects. It’s a great way to learn, serve, and grow while giving back to the Ventura County community.
